NC DOC redesign
making unemployment assistance accessible in North Carolina
The following project was part of an NYU AR/VR UX design online bootcamp. The objective was to redesign an unsatisfactory online experience, so I redesigned the process of applying for unemployment on the North Carolina Department of Commerce website. I decided to redesign this experience because my grief towards this website was still fresh after the initial economic impact of covid-19.
I had 6 people run through a mock version of the NC DOC website.
Hims provided a good example of leading a user though checking for eligibility of a service.
The NY state unployment application was used as reference in competitive analysis.
Mobile experience was the primary focus, because everybody has access to mobile but not everybody can access a desktop.
Moving forward I would illustrate the full process of applying for unemployment with polished UI.
